Child support is money parents pay for the care, support, and education for their child.  It may include a monthly court ordered amounts for basic support, child care support, and medical support.  Child care support is contributing to the cost of work or education related child care costs.

As parents and guardians work with the child support office to establish a financial partnership in support of their children, they should remember that not all solutions to child support problems are within their control. The legal rights of all parties must be guarded, and sometimes laws that protect the rights of one parent may seem unfair to the other.  Parents and guardians are encouraged to educate themselves about California Child Support Services Programs so they will better understand their rights and responsibilities under the law and be more successful in providing support to their families. 

The Fathers Resource Center does condone parents abdicate their financial responsibility to pay child support, but we do understand that financial hardships occur, and understand that parents may not be in a position to pay.  Protecting yourself and your children is a priority though.  We can assist you with further education, completing documents and filing orders.
